(518) Freedom is a group of Christian gospel preachers based in the Capital Region of New York State, dedicated to the eternal rescue and transformation of precious souls who have been caught up, not only in the legal system, but in the very shackles of
Satan himself, due to their own disobedience to the will of God.

County jails temporarily house inmates who are awaiting trial, sentencing, or transfer to prison. Many of these inmates have never before been presented with the fantastic news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. (518) Freedom volunteers bring the life-changing message of Jesus, perfectly preserved in the Old and New Testaments of the Christian Bible, to people he loves that are hungry for truth and humble enough to listen. The
revolving nature of the county jail population allows us to constantly meet new people.

Every week we conduct nearly a dozen Bible studies in the Saratoga, Schenectady and Rensselaer County jails. Every month we bring the love of Christ and the word of God to nearly a hundred individuals. Every year our volunteers usher many dozens of inmates into forgiveness of sin and a saving relationship with the Son of God. Once they are released from jail or prison, we provide discipleship and practical assistance to enable these believers to become a vital part of the body of Christ, the church.

The world’s system often despises and discards the men and women who find themselves in custody on the wrong side of the law. But we see a golden opportunity for God to demonstrate the power of his grace by transforming them into new creatures,
and empowering them by his Holy Spirit to be witnesses of the resurrected Savior.
